Making cancer curable is undoubtedly one of the biggest medical challenges we face. But what if we could actually prevent cancer from taking hold in the first place? That’s what Professor David Church and his team in the Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford are investigating. Here he explains how vaccines could be used to train the immune system to recognise precancerous cells, and the implications for those living with a predisposition for certain cancers, such as those with Lynch syndrome.
