Forensic psychiatrist

I studied medicine in Edinburgh, and moved to Oxford to train clinically in psychiatry. I became interested in forensic psychiatry after working in secure hospitals and prisons, and have been researching the mental health of prisoners, violence risk assessment, and adverse outcomes in severe mental illness over the past few years as part of a Wellcome Senior Research Fellowship. I continue to work clinically as a visiting psychiatrist to a local prison. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, reading non-fiction (with Oxford historian Peter Frankopan’s recent book on the New Silk Roads and Abbas Amanat’s on modern Iran next on my reading list), in between listening to Radio 6, Radio 3’s Late Junction, Radiohead, and catching up on a variety of podcasts on politics (especially FT Politics and Talking Politics), football and culture.

Here’s some links to some further work I have done:

Another more general pod on prison health: Watch here
