Robin Dunbar

Psychologist

I graduated with a BA from Oxford in 1969, and followed this up with a PhD at Bristol University. I held Research Fellowships at Cambridge and then Liverpool Universities, and then was a lecturer at Stockholm University, University College London and Liverpool University before returning to Oxford. My principal research interests lie in understanding social evolution in mammals in general and humans in particular. Besides giving lectures at schools, UK science festivals and TED events, I have appeared in various advertising campaigns (e.g. Guinness with Jonathan Ross and Danny Wallace), in a Heston Blumenthal TV programme and a BBC Horizon programme with Jimmy Carr.
