Since childhood Ingmar has been fascinated by the notion of machine intelligence. Like many in his field of research (applied artificial intelligence) he was inspired early on by science fiction works such as those by Isaac Asimov. Ingmar attended Aston University in Birmingham to study Electronic Systems Engineering. He then went on to do a DPhil at Oxford where he now leads the Applied Artificial Intelligence Lab – part of the Oxford Robotics Institute.
