Aliaksandr Herasimenka
I am a postdoctoral researcher and director of research at the Programme on Democracy and Technology at the Oxford Internet Institute and a fellow at the Oxford Martin Programme on Misinformation, Science and Media. I have worked in the media for a long time but realised that media tools could not answer important questions I was concerned about – how authoritarianism emerges and what’s media role in this process – so I turned to the methods of science. I use these methods, primarily social data science, to understand how political actors use navigate the modern media environment to manipulate the public.
